About Me

My life is a rich tapestry of experiences shaped by faith, challenges, and transformation. Born in 1957 in Oklahoma City, I was the eldest of three children in a loving but deeply religious family. Raised in the Church of the Nazarene, his upbringing instilled strong moral values and created an early conflict between expectation and identity.

My family moved to Japan at eight years old, immersing me in a new culture and awakening my intuitive gifts. These years marked the beginning of my journey of spiritual exploration, where he began to sense things beyond the physical world. Returning to the U.S. in my early teens, I faced the dual challenges of cultural reintegration and discovering my identity as a gay man in a conservative environment. These formative years were filled with internal struggle but also laid the groundwork for his spiritual connection.

At sixteen, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening, hearing what I believed to be the Voice of God. This moment became a turning point, shaping his life’s purpose even as he spent decades resisting its full call. I pursued worldly success through college and early adulthood while grappling with inner doubts about his path. My life took another dramatic turn when I married, fathered two sons, and later faced the challenges of divorce and single parenthood.

Amidst personal struggles, including a battle with depression and moments of financial hardship, I began to listen more closely to the divine voice that had long called me. A transformative experience during a solitary walk deepened my connection with God, reaffirming my purpose and reshaping my outlook on life. This was the genesis of his mantra, Living with the Top Down, symbolizing a life of freedom, authenticity, and joy.

My spiritual journey blossomed further through my work with Landmark Education, where I embraced transformational coaching and leadership roles. These experiences honed my ability to help others discover their potential and rewrite their narratives. Later, my relocation to Oak Island, North Carolina, marked a bold decision to live in alignment with my spiritual calling. Here, I founded Oak Island Publications, authored my first book, God Speaks - A Dialogue, and embraced my role as a spiritual coach and healer.

Throughout my life, I have faced significant health challenges, including breast cancer and heart surgery, as well as the loss of loved ones. Despite these trials, I remain deeply rooted in my faith, finding strength and purpose in helping others navigate their own journeys of self-discovery and healing.

Today, my life is a testament to the power of transformation, faith, and resilience. As a father, son, entrepreneur, and Christian man, I continue to embrace my calling to guide others toward lives of purpose, joy, and abundance while staying true to my own spiritual journey.

My story is not the story of someone who had everything clear from the beginning. It is the story of someone who spent years sensing that there was more beneath the surface of life, more beneath the surface of faith, and more beneath the surface of who I was becoming.

For much of my life, I carried questions that did not leave me alone. I knew there was a deeper current moving beneath ordinary experience, but I did not always know how to name it. Over time, I came to understand that the life I was meant to live would not be built by drifting, pretending, or performing. It would have to be built by listening.

That understanding became real for me in a moment I have never forgotten. On a Sunday walk, weighed down by frustration and unresolved pain, I finally turned my anger toward God and demanded, “If You are really there, why don’t You say something?” What followed was silence, and then a response that changed everything: “And what would you have Me say?” In that moment, I was not given an argument. I was given an encounter. I walked away knowing that God was real, that He was present, and that listening would become the beginning of a different life.

From that point forward, I began to understand my life through a different lens. Faith became more than belief. It became a way of being. Purpose became more than ambition. It became alignment. Writing became more than expression. It became part of my calling.

Today, that calling shapes everything I build. Through books, reflections, blogs, and guided study, I seek to create space for others to listen more deeply, respond more honestly, and move toward the life they were created to live. My work is rooted in the belief that God still speaks, that purpose is not random, and that the human spirit comes alive when we stop resisting what is deepest and truest within us.

I do not claim to have mastered the journey. I am still listening. Still learning. Still becoming. But I know this much: when life begins to align with purpose, what once felt blocked begins to open, what once felt scattered begins to gather, and faith becomes something lived instead of merely spoken.
